I haven’t written in months! My daughter started a non-profit organization last September. It’s called Women Sanctuary and it’s a community wellness center where women can come together to support and empower one another. I have been helping her get that off the ground. It’s been exciting yet very time consuming. I think I may finally have found the balance, though, between helping with that endeavor and continuing my own life’s work. But I am going to keep this brief – more tomorrow! But before I go, here is a picture of Cayuga Lake from my front door this morning:

I love living on the lake. I love waking up every morning and seeing this view when I look out my living room window. I am so happy I made the decision to move here almost two years ago now. I really feel like I am living my dream, even when other things in my life might not be going the way I planned or want them to, when I look out over the lake. I love watching the cycles, how it changes during the day, during the week, during the year. I have no idea why it makes me feel so good, although I have read that there have been studies done that show this feeling is real. I don’t need studies to tell me how good it feels. I’m here living it! I love you, Cayuga Lake!

I don’t think anything more needs to be said, do you? What do you think, is this a worthwhile life goal?

I finally did it! I have been wanting to get back into my morning walk-yoga-meditate routine for the longest time and I just kept putting it off for no good reason. Today, I did it! I must admit I spent some of the meditation time thinking about what I was going to write in this blog, or what I was having for lunch, or wondering how my granddaughter is doing at college, but then I brought myself back to my breathing.

Would you agree with me that sometimes taking that first step is the hardest? Tomorrow, it will be so much easier to do the routine again because I’ve overcome the inertia, I’ve started with Day 1. I want to keep the momentum going.

My walk is on Cayuga Lake and I’ve taken some pictures to share with you. Now would you please share with me and leave me a comment about what you are doing for yourself today? Maybe it is something you’ve been putting off for awhile, too. Let me know!

Hello September

I will be sorry to see summer go. Summer is my favorite season. I love the warmth which brings being able to be outdoors more, to go swimming, to wear less clothing. I like the freedom the warmth brings. Fall often fills me with anxiety for it is a reminder that winter is not far behind. But summer is not gone yet so I won’t start mourning its leaving just yet. I will be grateful for the continuing warm days and enjoy the now cooler nights. I will remember that life is a balance. How can I enjoy the warmth without the cold?

Balance the Harvest

Today is Sunday and exactly four weeks from today I will be leading the Sunday service at the Auburn UU Society in celebration of Mabon, which is the Pagan celebration of the second harvest, Lammas being the first and Samhain the third. Mabon is celebrated at the autumnal equinox, a time of balance between days and nights. I will be spending the next four weeks pondering the connection between the harvest and balance and welcome any thoughts you may have on the subject because as of right now I think I am drawing a blank! Maybe there is no correlation.

I have no idea what woke me up at 5:30am this past Sunday, but it was well worth it. The sunrise was glorious! I snapped these four pictures in half hour intervals on my iPhone starting at 5:30 and ending at 7:00.

The start of a new day is often like the start to a new life. Every day is a new beginning. The canvas is clean, waiting for us to paint the picture of the life we choose at that particular time.

What will you paint on the canvas of your new day?
